So, I was posting a comment on Just a Plane Ride Away (the always fabulous expat blog) about how I was considering the purchase of a new set of dishes and that I was looking at "Friendly Village" which is a set of everyday plates from Wedgewood. This whole set is on sale for $99! I know that I would have found these dishes completely atrocious just a few years ago...so why have I bookmarked the site to look at the photo? WHY? I think I love it.

I like them too. Looks like something warm and friendly to make family history with.

So pretty! I agree with the "Friendly" in the title. I think they will make your guests feel warm and snuggly (or gezellig as they say here in Holland) when they tuck into a nice meal with you. What a great price too!!
Had to laugh at your "atrocious" comment. I bought a set of red transferware in England two years ago. I would NEVER have bought it in my younger years, but now I love them.
If you get the set, I hope you'll post a photo of your set table when you first use them. :-)
They may look pretty in the photo but once you get them home you will say UGH!
Is this just for the holidays?
Leanne - Thank you. I think you are picking up on the cozyness of the plates.
JAPRA - I will totally post a photo - IF - I get them. It's looking like the last two commenters are skeptical at best. I think gezellig plates would be great!
Julia - Hmmm. I'm going to be giving your plates a once over tonight when I come over for dinner.
Aili - no. C'mon, you love them right!?
Honey, I think those are just for the Holidays. Do you see the snow and pine cones? It sort of reminds me of a Kinkade painting... and I don't think that's a good thing.
I was on the fence about these... until I read Aili's Kinkade comment... I think I agree with her, sorry. But VERY cute Holiday ware! There's just not a summer-meal feel to them.
Fine y'all. I cave. I will not be buying the dishes. I will keep looking and hey, if you see any that are vintage and cute let me know!
Barf.
