So, I decided to go out and finally purchase a DSLR - a Canon Rebel T1i - and my new best friend. 
I want to spend the next several months getting aqcuainted with this camera, so I can take gorgeous photos when I go to Spain this summer!
So be prepared for many, many test shots of my pets. I apologize in advance. 
Archer looks less crazed when he's upside down... or maybe the camera is just that good! Congrats little sis!
