Team USA 2022

One of the family babies started gymnastics classes this Spring. It is perfect for this little one, since she is made of movement and energy!
Hey, Mary Lou Retton had to start somewhere! I'm thinking of buying her some Olympics posters for her bedroom...ha!

And as is all Canessa tradition, we followed up the good work with a delicious trip to a Bakery, where the kids kicked off their galoshes and enjoyed some yummy treats.

I hope you all had a happy Easter weekend!

Night Owl

I was on spring break last week (how awesome is it that I still get spring break?!) and was determined to get out there and practice using my camera. I got as far as my deck. ha!

Above, is the city view from my deck. I love it.

The helpful folks on our local new station announced that the moon was going to be in perigee to the earth over the weekend. I, like many photo folks, decided that I was going to take a picture of the "supermoon". Unfortunately, we had some mild and annoying storms move in and I thought there was no way I would get to see it.
And this is where the night owl part comes in. You see, I am a natural night owl that is forced to live like a morning person in order to make a living. On long breaks like the one I had last week, my penchant for 2 am nights reasserts itself. This time it came in handy and I was able to get some frankly somewhat "meh" photos of the supermoon as the storm clouds were breaking up. I could hardly tell the difference between a regular moon and the super one we were supposed to see that night, but I'm glad I stayed up late!

A happy weekend

A friend of mine got married this weekend, and it reminds me that you don't need a lot of extras when you have love!

Le Sigh

I am tired. Tired of ice and snow and grey skies. I would rather be here:

Freezing February

Saint Louis got a big dose of yucky winter weather recently. I think the snowfall total so far this year is 22.8 inches. Anyways, the college shut down for a couple of days this week, and I took advantage of the lull between the freezing rain and sleet to go out and snap a few photos. It's amazing that something that looks so pretty can be so terribly annoying!

Archer is just dropping in to say "Hi". If you're wondering why Darcy is rarely pictured here, it's because he has too much dignity, intelligence and poise to stoop to wacky poses. Seriously, Archer was just hanging out with me on the couch like that. I HAD to get a photo.

Holiday Happenings

So, I found out about this photo websharing site called dropbox where you can store tons of files, video, photos etc. The free version is super fast and covenient and I am now using them to post photos to this blog. The one problem I've found so far, is that each picture posts as its own individual post as opposed to one nice, neat long photo blog post. Oh well, right now the convenience factor is heavily outweighing the desire I have for everything to be "neat and tidy".
Anyways, I hope your Christmas was a great one! Mine so far has been lovely. Our family kicked off the holiday festivities by driving out to St. Charles and enjoying the decorated historic district.
It was freezing, but totally worth it to see actual Carolers walking around. There were also some historically accurate Santas and such walking around - I'm not sure why, but watching people in costume acting like Santa makes me uncomfortable. Like, I know they are fake, and they know that I know they are fake, but I still have to smile and pretend that they aren't? Ugh, I just tried to avoid them.
I especially enjoyed how the lights melted little holes in the snow - this is my parent's walkway.
On Christmas Eve morning snow started to fall and by the evening we has a good 3-5 inches on the ground. I loved how Christmas lights looked in the snow!!
Merry Christmas and Happy New Years to everyone!
This New Year's my best friend, Shalyn, is coming in to town and we have decided to go over the top and cook a 4 course French meal out of Julia Child's cookbook. I'll post the results both good and bad here afterwards!

My last work day was this Friday and I now have a glorious 17 days off for the Holidays. I'll be spending my time reading and playing around with my camera! Oh ya!
